Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Isabel moved to Australia in the mid 90's, living and practicing in Sydney until she relocated up north to tropical Darwin in the Top End of Australia.
Isabel has a strong background in design, having majored in fine arts and design in her high school studies, followed by
photography, jewellery design and a Landscape Architecture degree.
She has worked in the creative field over the past 20 years, having taken on fine arts in late 2011.
Isabel has already her work spread throughout private collections around the world, in countries including United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal, United States, Japan and Australia.
Isabel’s work is all about love, not romantic love, but love for all aspects of life, pleasant, unpleasant, real and imaginary, resulting in a ‘fantasy like’ world. As a child, Isabel grew up close to nature developing that way a strong bond with her natural surroundings which are also a strong influence in her work.
Isabel is a strong believer in the connection between art and humans, when that connection is made through the art work, a bond is forever established between the artist and the viewer.
Isabel is a story teller and likes to tell it in pictures, using a variety of media with bold colours and texture. She works mostly in mixed media and loves to experiment, furthering her creative skills.
Although there are no direct ‘artist influences’ in her work, Isabel has a strong admiration for great masters such as Marc Chagall, Gustav Klimt, Wassily Kandinsky, Juan Miro, John Olsen, Fred Williams and a fascination for Japanese and Scandinavian arts and fine Indigenous Australian art.
